You are a Miracle
(c.) 1996 Matthew W. Pittaway
Your tiny hand wraps my finger, no better feeliing I know
because though you don't remember, son it wasn't long ago that
Your same small hand laid lifeless, as I looked on helplessly
death was creepin in like a midnight thief I couldn't see
Oh the day that you were born, was such an awesome hi
but a few hours later, the doctor's face showed tired lines and
he said your heart was deformed, he didn't have a reason why
surgery was hopeless they left us and we cried
I want you to know son, that when your mama was a girl
The west side of Detroit was her home
She learned to fight for what she had, so when the doctors gave up hope
She wasn't about to just let you go
Son you'll read of heros in fairy tales of old
and saints or so the history books say
Listen close my little boy, heros still exist
and saints are walking on the earth today
A woman and her husbad lost their little one
A few weeks after mama had you
gave his little heart away, that gift became your life
then the doctor's had a big job to do
You are a miracle! Never let this old world get you down
You are a miracle, and if you forget it, baby I am gonna be around
As I sing this song I hope a message come son throughYou are a miracle!
saints and heros still are all around
Reporters try to sell us shocking awful news
but most folks will lend a hand I've found
Tho you may not be a star of stage or silver screen
No else on earth is quite like you
The heavenly designer has broken every mold
and if you ask and seek and knock and don't give up
There is something remarkable in life, for you to do, because
You are a miracle! Never let this old world get you down
You are a miracle, and if you forget it, baby I am gonna be around
